Indianapolis, IN – Owen Thomas, former lead singer for influential Indiana-based rock band The Elms, has announced plans for an ambitious modern multimedia concert to support his debut solo album, LANGUAGES. The LANGUAGES. LIVE. show will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Deluxe at Old National Centre.

LANGUAGES. was released on November 27, 2012 to adulation from critics and fans alike, with NUVO praising it as “one of the very best albums of 2012.” Thomas wrote and recorded the album with producer Thomas Daugherty over the course of eight months in 2012, and has painstakingly created an aesthetic universe for LANGUAGES. that meticulously integrates design, film, and photo elements to provide an extraordinary multi-sensory experience.

The LANGUAGES. LIVE. concert will be Owen’s first live public performance in nearly three years. Currently, he is a sought-after filmmaker and creative director, and since the disbanding of The Elms in 2010, has directed music videos, documentaries, and branding campaigns for major label and independent musical artists as well as established multinational brands and startup companies.

The highly-stylized visual world for the LANGUAGES. album will be recreated on stage for LANGUAGES. LIVE., with an elaborate configuration of LED screens and backdrops bringing the music to life; Thomas has also hand-selected the incredible musicians who will accompany him on stage for the performance.

Says Thomas, “This show is easily one of the grandest and most important creative endeavors of my life so far. It will be a complete marriage of all my film, music, and design passions, and will be a direct reflection of all my tastes and thoughts right now. We’ve set the bar very high in our creative expectations for this show. It’s our goal to put on one of the finest club performances that the city sees this year. The set list will bear surprises, the support acts are fantastic, and I’ll be building films that sync harmoniously with every note we play. Plus, every audience member will leave with a special gift that I’ve been working on for months, something very close to me. It’s going to be an awesome night, totally fun and engaging on all creative fronts.”

LANGUAGES. LIVE. will feature support sets from two up-and-coming new Indianapolis-based artists, Jason Aaron Coons and Brandon Perry. Coons has been consistently packing local venues since summer of 2012, garnering national attention for his debut album, The Numbers, and leading to support dates for the likes of Mat Kearney and Fitz & The Tantrums. Perry’s songwriting has been praised by critics, and has attracted the attention of high-profile fans like Adam Duritz of Counting Crows, who tweeted about Perry’s songs last year.

The show will be closed by a special 45-minute DJ set from Austin, Texas-based Gabriel Chance, who produced a series of remixes for the LANGUAGES. album. A film featuring Chance’s remix of Thomas’s song, “Houdini.” will also premiere at the show.

Owen Thomas is creative director of Absorb., a progressive arts company he established in 2012 to enable both contract and investment work with modern film, musical, visual, and literary artists.
